Many people think that jet skis are extremely dangerous, but they’re really not if you’re aware of your surroundings. It’s a lot like driving a car. You have to be very aware of the other water vehicles around you, and since you’re the little shrimp in the water, you have to yield to larger watercraft… or if you’re like me, you can be the annoying little fly buzzing around that you can’t catch.

I got a lot of jet ski experience on Lake Havasu in Arizona. When I lived in San Diego, we used to go there on little weekend vacations. That’s where I am in the photo. I’m not sure when or how this photo was taken, but I assume that it was taken from the boat that I was following with friends aboard. Lake Havasu is a wonderful place. It’s a very beautiful and clean lake. I caught some amazing catfish there – absolutely enormous… but unfortunately to clean a catfish for dinner you really need certain tools that I didn’t have, so I’d put them back in the lake and we’d go to Red Robin later. I don’t carry a scale with my fishing gear, but they were huge. When fishing in Indiana, I bring a ruler and make sure my catch is large enough to keep.

On the way to Lake Havasu, we used to stop at a little casino in Indio. One time I won $1800 dollars there. I usually start with $20 and stop when I lose it.
